THE LINE SERIES
The representation of linear movements in geometric compositions that require no pre-established parameters, incorporating the gestures and the basic uncertainty of organic corporal movement. Clean, pure overlapping linear compositions, prove constant vibration in visual readings. Harmony and order show esthetics with an expressive capacity to transmit energy and sensations, able to craft emotions. The proposal inquires in those aspects not usually treated in depth, placing emphasis on free forms. By going beyond pre established limits, gestures and the physical action of movement are incorporated; thus converting sinuosity into a sort of language through subtle and delicate ripples admitting unrestrained expressions, showing hesitant, startling or uncertain paths, reaching active compositions of considerable visual impact. Divergence from Euclidian geometry enlightens these works with a less rigid air. Torsion gives way to an unstable zone that is no stranger to random luck. The use of curvature is not consistent either, establishing varying values of irregular contours; likewise fractal expansions behave in organic life, relativity concepts on the cosmos or geological layers, as indelible prints of the dynamics in tectonic plaques and evolutionary events of our planet.
LILIANA ITURRIAGA (1965)
Lives and works in Chile.
Studied design at escuela BRIVIL of Caracas, Venezuela. She lived in Venezuela for more than thirty years, the country where his visual closeness begins with kinetic art. On his return to Chile in 2008, it is invited by Galería Sin Muros del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes of Chile to make the exhibition “Sinuosidad de la Línea” and, after two years, to participate in the collective “Desvíos y Heterodoxas “. Participates on a serigraphy workshop Universidad de Chile, thus transgressing the line to printing. The proposal of Liliana investigates the repricing of geometrism in Latin America, with an emphasis on free forms, through gesture and body movement, for this, she uses a matrix that moves on the painting, making linear compositions of considerable visual impact and evident kinetic features.
2009 – Project for a health institution in Santiago, Chile. There are more than 120 works that form part of this proposal. This research leads to an exhaustive study focused on the visual recreation of the patient. Works that with a psychological focus and artistic approach transmit comfortable sensations with simple and sober aesthetic sense.
2012 – Creates “Sinuosidad de la Línea“. They are 36 works that conform the exhibition and is the result of an investigation on the relationship between sinuosity, movement and linear movement, which allows you to make a reinterpretation of geometrical abstract tradition and Kinetic Art, considering the variable gestural line on the plane. Through the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and Galería Museo Sin Muros, exhibits in Santiago and Concepción, Chile. Subsequently the sample is transferred to the Institución Cultural Casa del Arte Diego Rivera, in Puerto Montt, Chile
2013 – Makes a workshop on serigraphy of Art Diploma Course at Universidad de Chile with Professor Christopher Bouey. In March this year, presents a new project: Desvíos y Heterodoxas. 12 works that overturn the free abstraction, incorporating the geometric element, the visual impact of color, movement and order, vibrant lines. They are sculptures that are formed by acrylic sheets overlapped on buckets of acrylic. She exposes in Galería Museo sin Muros of Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, curated by Patricio M. Zarate and exposes again in Concepción and Santiago.
2014 – Participates in Geoform / Geometrical form & structure form in contemporary abstract (www.geoform.net). Curator Julie Karabenick / Michigan, USA. She exposes one of his works in collective “Outside Exhibition” in Strasbourg, France.
2015 – Participates in a color workshop of Art Diploma Course at Universidad Católica de Chile with Professor Eduardo Vilchez. Participates in the collective ARTEMUNDO Gallery in Santiago, Chile. She exposes one of her works at the International Art Biennial in Palermo, Italy. Presents her work to “AG Gallery”, in Windwood, Miami, USA. Participates in the charity auction Rozas-Botrán Foundation in Miami, USA.
