60 WORDS PER MINUTE SERIES
Many of the stories that we usually see on television, especially in soap operas, are realities that many secretaries live that every day work in this profession, as 60 words per minute, who after her education and experience as a secretary, extracts visual elements and documentaries of this professional field. Her closeness has raised questions about the realities of these women, but also about the educational and work environment in which the secretaries subscribe.
Abigail Reyes has managed to suggest some of the situations of submission, degradation and exploitation that the secretaries must support on a day to day basis, and that are also evidenced in some media. That is why Reyes is provided with classified ads, testimonies and fragments of soap operas to propose a thought about the naturalization that has been given to the hierarchy of this labor field. Her pieces, which roam between poetry and art, propose a feminine fragility that confronts him with a nineteenth-century and patriarchal force; Through the same automation that the artist emphasizes in the work of the secretaries, her texts are repeated again and again, until meaning and coherence are removed from said purposes.
